How Much Does SEO Cost in Dubai? A Straight Answer

“How much does SEO cost?” is one of the first questions every business owner asks, and “it depends” is the answer they almost always get. It is true. It is also useless when you are trying to set a budget.

So this post gives you real numbers, in dirhams, and then explains exactly what pushes a quote up or down. By the end you should be able to look at any SEO proposal and judge whether the price matches the work.

For context, our own SEO packages start from AED 1,000 a month for startups. That is not the right number for every business, and the rest of this post explains why.

The Short Answer, in Dirhams

What SEO Providers Actually Charge

The most useful public data comes from Ahrefs’ survey of 439 SEO providers, which is regularly updated. Converted at the dirham’s fixed peg of AED 3.6725 to the US dollar, the headline numbers look like this:

  • The average agency retainer is about $3,209 a month, roughly AED 11,800.
  • The average freelancer retainer is about $1,349 a month, roughly AED 4,950.
  • The single most common monthly band is $501 to $1,000, roughly AED 1,840 to AED 3,670.

Why the Average Misleads You

Notice the gap between the average and the most common price. A smaller number of large, competitive campaigns pull the average up sharply. Most small and medium businesses pay well below it.

That is why a Dubai clinic, a trading company and a national ecommerce brand can all receive “normal” SEO quotes that differ by a factor of ten. They are not buying the same thing.

The Three Ways SEO Is Priced

Monthly Retainers

This is the dominant model. 78.2 percent of SEO providers charge a monthly retainer, because most SEO work is continuous. Content gets published, technical issues reappear as a site changes, reviews and local signals need ongoing attention, and competitors do not stand still.

A retainer suits you if you want steady, compounding progress rather than a single fix.

One-Off Projects

Some work genuinely has a start and an end: a full technical audit, a website migration, a cleanup after a penalty, or setting up tracking properly. Ahrefs found the most common project fee sits between $2,501 and $5,000, roughly AED 9,200 to AED 18,400.

If you are planning a redesign, a project is often exactly right. Our guide to the SEO baseline audit to run before any website change shows the kind of work a project covers.

Hourly Consulting

Hourly rates suit businesses with an in-house person who needs direction rather than hands. Ahrefs puts the average at about $111 an hour, roughly AED 410, with $75 to $100 the most common band.

This works well for a second opinion on a strategy, or for training a marketing executive. It works badly as a substitute for actually doing the work.

What Actually Drives the Price Up or Down

How Competitive Your Keywords Are

This is the biggest single factor. Ranking for a search where a few small businesses compete takes far less effort than ranking for a search where well-funded firms have invested for years. Legal services, real estate and medical searches in Dubai sit at the expensive end. A specialist B2B supplier often sits at the cheap end.

How Far You Want to Reach

Ranking in your own part of Dubai is a different job from ranking across the UAE, which is different again from ranking internationally. Local results are shaped by relevance, distance and prominence, and distance is something you simply cannot buy. A business serving one area can focus its budget where it can actually win.

The State of Your Website

A clean, fast, well-structured site needs less fixing before growth work can start. A site with indexing problems, slow pages or a messy structure needs that repaired first, and it costs money. Our list of technical SEO mistakes that quietly kill UAE rankings covers the usual suspects.

How Much Content Needs Writing

Content is often the largest share of an ongoing budget, because good pages take real time to research and write. A business needing two strong service pages a month pays very differently from one needing a full content programme.

What Each Budget Level Realistically Buys

From AED 1,000 a Month: A Narrow Scope, Done Properly

At the entry level, the honest approach is to do a few things well rather than everything badly. Typically that means one location, a short list of priority searches, the technical basics, and a properly optimised Google Business Profile.

This is the logic behind our startup packages. It is also why we wrote about what you are actually buying with cheap SEO: a small budget spent on a narrow scope can work, but a small budget spread across everything cannot, because the hours are not there.

Mid-Range: Consistent Growth Work

At mid-range budgets you can expect regular content, ongoing technical maintenance, local SEO, and a genuine effort to earn links from relevant sites. This is where most growing SMEs in Dubai sit, and where steady month-on-month progress usually comes from.

Higher Budgets: Competitive or Wide Campaigns

Larger budgets are justified when you are competing in an expensive sector, targeting the whole UAE or several countries, or running a large ecommerce catalogue. The extra money pays for more content, more specialist time and more outreach, not for a secret technique.

How to Tell If a Quote Is Fair

Ask How Many Hours It Buys

The single most revealing question is how many hours of real work the fee covers each month. A fee that cannot plausibly cover the work described is a fee where something is being automated or skipped.

Ask What You Get in Month One

A good provider can tell you exactly what the first 30 days deliver: access checks, a baseline, a technical audit, a keyword plan and reporting. Our post on what an SEO consultant should show you in month one lists it in full.

Use Google’s Own Questions

Google’s guidance on whether you need an SEO suggests asking for examples of previous work, whether the provider follows Google Search Essentials, and what results to expect and in what timeframe. It also warns against providers who are secretive about what they will change.

Ask Where the Links Come From

Paid or manufactured links are a fast way to turn an SEO budget into a problem. Google’s spam policies treat link schemes as a violation, so any package promising a large fixed number of links each month deserves a hard look.

Setting a Budget That Makes Sense for You

Work Backwards From a Customer

Start with what one new customer is worth to you over a year, then how many enquiries it takes to win one. If a customer is worth AED 6,000 and one in four enquiries converts, every enquiry is worth around AED 1,500 to you. Now a monthly SEO fee becomes a question you can actually answer: how many extra enquiries does it need to produce to pay for itself?

Match the Scope to the Budget, Not the Other Way Round

If your budget is small, say so and ask what can be done properly within it. A good provider will narrow the scope. A poor one will promise the same deliverables as a package costing five times more. Our guide on how to choose an SEO agency in Dubai covers the rest of that conversation.

The Bottom Line

SEO in Dubai can genuinely cost AED 1,000 a month or ten times that, and both can be fair prices. The number is decided by how competitive your searches are, how far you want to reach, how much your site needs fixing and how much content you need.

The fairest way to judge a quote is not the total. It is what the hours, the deliverables and the scope look like for that money.

If you want a scope matched to your actual budget, starting from AED 1,000 a month for startups, our SEO team can walk you through what that would cover for your business.
